Polson Veterans Bridge

Veteran’s Bridge in Polson crosses the narrow waters of Flathead Lake. The bridge is a section of Highway 93, and important north-south route in Western Montana Originally, the bridge was a 2,400-foot wooden structure built in 1910, funded by a combination of public and private contributions. In the 1920s, a unique "Y" approach was created at the city end after a dispute between merchants over which streets the bridge should connect. The original bridge was replaced in 1928, and a second wooden bridge stood until 1965, when it was replaced with a modern structure. In 2007, the bridge was renamed the Veterans Memorial Bridge to honor veterans. The renaming served as a tribute to the sacrifices made by veterans, especially those who lost their lives in service.
